울진군(군수 전찬걸)은 본격적인 사과 수확철을 맞아 청정 고랭지 지역에서 길러내 당도와 신선도가 높고 아삭한 식감이 특징인 사과 출하가 한창이라고 밝혔다.

울진에서는 주로 ‘후지’ 품종이 출하되는데 올해는 냉해와 잦은 강우 등 기상조건의 악화에도 다행히 작황이 좋고 전년보다 가격이 저렴하게 형성되어 소비추세가 증가함에 따라 농가소득 향상으로 이어질 것으로 전망된다.
한편 울진사과는 2015년 지역특화과수 선도농가 육성시범으로 시작하여 현재 20여 농가에서 약 12ha의 규모로 재배하고 있으며, 한 가지 품종에 주력했던 예전과는 달리 시나노골드, 감홍 등 다품종 재배농가가 늘어나고 있다.
울진군농업기술센터에서는 ‘지역 맞춤형 특화과수 재배기반 조성’ 등 과수기반 확대를 위한 시범사업을 추진하고 있으며, 수확철을 맞이하여 개인별 농가지도 및 컨설팅을 추진한다.
