브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 30일 이준석 국민의힘 대표가 앞으로 모든 공식 일정을 취소하고 돌연 종적을 감췄다.
이준석 대표는 이날 오전 일정을 갑작스레 취소했다. 당초 이날 오전 9시 한 언론사가 주최하는 포럼에 참석하기로 돼 있었으나, 이날 오전 7시55분경 갑작스레 일정 취소를 통보한 것으로 알려졌다. 현재 이 대표는 휴대전화까지 꺼놓고 있어 행방이 묘연하다.
이 대표는 전날 저녁 자신의 페이스북에 "그렇다면 여기까입니다"라는 글을 남겼고, 이후 약 50분 후에는 '^_^p'라는 이모티콘을 올리기도 했다. P는 엄지를 거꾸로 내린 모양이다.
제1야당 대표가 이러한 의미심장한 글을 남긴 뒤 돌연 종적을 감추자 정치권에서 다양한 추측과 해석이 난무하고 있다.
개인 일정을 이유로 금일에 한해 취소했다는 이야기부터, 이 대표가 선대위 상임 선대위원장직 사퇴 등 중대 결단을 내리려 하는 게 아니냐는 해석까지 나온다. 현재 이준석 대표는 상임 선대위원장직과 홍보미디어본부장 1인2역을 맡고 있다.
최근 자신이 공을 들였던 김종인 전 비상대책위원장의 합류가 사실상 불발된데다 윤석열 대선후보 선대위에서 자신이 '패싱'되고 있다는 논란이 불거진데 대한 불쾌감을 표시하는 것이란 추측도 있다.
실제로 이 대표는 전날 윤석열 후보의 충청지역 방문 일정도 하루 전에서야 통보받았다며 직접적으로 불쾌한 심기를 드러내기도 했다. 이 대표는 윤석열 후보의 세종시 방문 일정에 자신이 동행하는지도 몰랐다며 "언론에서 저한테 세종 가냐고 문의가 온 다음에 오후에야 실무진에게 연락이 왔다. 적어도 제가 간다고 발표한 일정은 저에게 먼저 물어보고 결정해달라"고 했다. 이 대표는 결국 윤 후보의 일정에 동행하지 않았다.
자신이 반대했던 이수정 경기대 교수를 선대위 공동선대위원장으로 선임한 것 역시 '패싱 논란'을 격화시켰다.
다만 국민의힘은 기자들에게 "당 관계자 등 언론에 보도되고 있는 당 대표 관련 내용들은 모두 사실이 아니다"라고 공지했다.
한편 홍준표 국민의힘 의원은 자신의 청년 온라인 플랫폼 ‘청년의꿈’에서 "당 대표가 상임선대위원장이 돼 대선을 치러야 하는데 이상한 사람들이 설쳐서 대선 캠프가 잡탕이 됐다. 벌써 자리싸움이니 참 한심하다", "당 대표를 겉돌게 하면 대선을 망친다", "지난 당 대표 선거에서 떨어진 중진들이 몰려다니며 당 대표를 저렇게 몰아세우니 당이 산으로 간다"고 지적했다.
