경북대학교(총장 홍원화)가 2022년도 정부예산안에서 신규 시설사업 국비로 총 787억원을 확보해 교육·연구 인프라 확충을 통한 대학 경쟁력 강화에 박차를 가할 것으로 예상된다.
이번 예산으로 경북대는 상주캠퍼스 문화·레저 관련 교육시설인 창의융합교육관을 건립한다. 사업에는 총 234억원이 투입되며, 내년 시설설계에 들어갈 예정이다.

2025년 완공예정인 창의융합교육관에는 다목적 체육관과 지역문화복지센터, 외국인교육지원센터, 세미나홀 등이 들어서게 되며 지역에 부족한 레저·문화 인프라를 확충하는 동시에 전국적 행사를 유치할 수 있는 기반이 마련되어 지역 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
이와 함께 학생들의 정주여건도 개선된다. 총 사업비 445.8억원을 투입해 기존 대구캠퍼스와 상주캠퍼스의 노후 생활관(성실관, 자주관)을 BTL 생활관으로 개축한다.
기존 생활관은 시설이 노후화되고 4인실과 공동샤워실로 인한 학생들의 이용 불편으로 재건립이 요구되어 왔다. 새로 건립되는 생활관은 대부분 2인실로 총 970명을 수용할 예정이다.
1979년에 준공된 인문대학 건물도 새옷을 갈아입는다. 이번 국비 확보로 총 81억원을 투입해 전면 리모델링한다. 교육인프라 디지털 전환을 위한 비대면 강의·학습 환경을 구축하고, 캠퍼스 탄소중립을 위해 태양광과 에너지절약 시설 등을 설치할 계획이다.
이와 함께 사범대학부설중·고등학교 도서관 신축(26억원) 사업도 이번 예산안에 반영됐다.
