경일대학교(총장 정현태) 기계자동차학부가 ‘제13회 대학 공작기계 창의 아이디어 공모전’에서 우수상(한국정밀공학회장상)을 수상하는 쾌거를 이뤘다.

지난 2일 열린 ‘대학 공작기계 창의 아이디어 공모전’은 전국 이공계 대학생들을 대상으로 진행되는 공모전으로 학생들의 다양한 아이디어 실현과 역량강화를 위해 실시되었다.
공모전은 기업과 대학생들이 멘토, 멘티가 되어 5개월 동안 학생들의 아이디어를 실제 현장에서 적용할 수 있도록 가공하여 평가했으며 14개의 대학에서 19개 팀이 참가해 7개 팀이 수상했다.
공모전에서 경일대 ‘슬기로운 공작생활’팀(노은상·백순원·손동화·최진, 지도교수 이광일)은 공작기계의 공정 상태를 실시간으로 모니터링할 수 있는 모듈을 주제로 선정하여 현대위아(주)에 재직 중인 장진석 책임연구원의 조언과 자문을 받아 과제를 수행해 우수상을 수상했다.
이를 통해 부상으로 상금 100만 원을 받은 ‘슬기로운 공작생활’ 팀은 전액을 사회복지공동모금회에 기부하며 연말을 앞두고 훈훈함을 더 했다.
공모전에 참여한 노은상(기계공학전공 3학년) 학생은 “이번 공모전을 통해 우리의 아이디어가 실제 공정 과정에 쓰일 수 있다는 점이 뿌듯하기도 하고 신기하기도 했다”며 “작은 금액이지만 수상의 기쁨을 다 같이 나누기 위해 팀원들과 뜻을 모아 기부하게 됐다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
지도교수를 맡은 이광일(기계자동차학부) 교수는 “공모전에 열정적으로 참가하여, 작지만 소중한 결실을 맺은 학생들에게 고마움을 표한다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 노력을 통해 사회 발전에 기여하는 훌륭한 공학도로 성장하기를 바란다”고 소감을 전했다.
