브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이준석 국민의힘 대표는 12일 윤석열 대선후보의 부인 김건희를 만나 본 소감을 공개했다. 그는 일각에서 제기되고 있는 '김건희 리스크'에 대해 걱정할 필요가 없어보인다고 말했다.
이준석 대표는 이날 뉴스1과의 인터뷰에서 "저쪽(더불어민주당)에서 저주성 발언을 워낙 많이 해서 어쩌면 저부터도 김건희 여사를 만나기 전에 선입견이 있었던 거 같다"며 "만나보니 선입견을 훨씬 상회하는 그런 언행 등을 봤다"고 회상했다.
그는 "자주 만나거나 여러 번 만난 것은 아니다"라며 "한 번의 조우에서 대중적으로 상대 정당에서 묘사하고 싶어하는 '김건희 리스크'라 불리는 형태의 이미지 씌우기는 결코 온당하지도 않고 잘 되지도 않을 것이라는 걸 느꼈다"고 강조했다.
이어 그는 김건희씨가 공식적인 대선 지원에 나서지 않는데 대해 "윤석열 후보는 검찰총장으로서 공적 활동을 했던 인사임에도 불구하고 언행 등에 있어서 완벽하게 적응하지 못한 모습을 보여줄 때가 있었다"며 "그럼 냉정하게 말해서 공적인 삶을 살 것이라고 전혀 예측하지 못했던 후보 부인의 경우에는 더더욱 준비가 부족하다고 판단할 수 밖에 없을 것"이라고 설명했다.
이 대표는 "(김건희씨가) 나오고 안 나오고 이분법적으로도 볼 수 있고, 아니면 조용한 내조 정도에서 언론 노출이나 대중 노출을 할 수 있다"라며 "김건희 여사도 전문성 있는 분야가 있기 때문에 예술 활동 등에 있어서 후보에게 적극적인 조언을 할 수도 있. 다만 제가 판단할 수 있는 것은 아니다"라고 했다.
