[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 경남도의회 의회운영위원장 심상동 의원이 지난 14일 도의회에서 열린 ‘2021 폐회연‘에서 역대 경남도의원들 모임인 경상남도의정회로부터 ‘자랑스런 도의원상’을 받는 받았다고 밝혔다.
심 의원은 의회의정회관 신축 추진, 지방의정회 육성법 제정 건의, 의회 역사관 마무리 등 경남도의회 위상 강화를 위해 노력해 왔다.
11대 후반기 의회의 첨예한 양당 갈등을 조정해오면서 원만한 의회 운영을 해 온 공로를 인정받았으며 특히 지방자치법 전부개정에 따른 지방의회 격변기를 맞아, 대한민국 시도의회 운영위원장 협의회 후반기 사무총장으로 선출되어 지방의회 인사권 독립, 정책지원관 도입 등 지방자치법 개정 후속조치 방안 마련을 주도했다.
심상동 의원은 “아직 부족한 것이 많음에도 선배 도의원님으로부터 공로를 인정받을 수 있었던 것은 동료 도의원들의 협조와 지역민들의 격려 덕분”이라며 “영광스런 수상의 은혜에 보답하기 위해서라도 더욱 열심히 도민 중심의 의정 활동을 펴나가도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
