울진군(군수 전찬걸)은 지난 15일 군청 대회의실에서‘죽변항 일대 역사·문화공간 조성사업 연구용역’최종보고회를 개최했다고 16일 밝혔다.

군에 따르면 이번 최종보고회는 죽변면 일대 역사·문화자원에서 도출해낸 키워드와 사업대상지 현황 및 개발 가능성 사이의 접점을 찾고, 이를 통해 제시한 비전에 대하여 관련 부서의 의견을 수렴하기 위하여 마련했다.
연구용역 수행기관인 ㈜엔브이는 죽변항 일대의 산업구조와 상업활동 및 전쟁사와 옛노래에서 도출한‘교류의 역사’라는 키워드를 통해 죽변항 일대를‘문화교류의 중심지’라는 테마로 묶어 과거, 현재, 미래의 여행자들이 함께 만들어가는‘죽변항 여행자들 프로젝트’라는 비전을 제시했다.
‘문화교류의 중심지’라는 비전 달성을 위하여 △죽변면사무소 일대에‘죽변항 여행자들’이라는 컨셉으로 포토존과 전망대 및 휴식공간 설치 △죽변항 전용공업지역 일대에 죽변항 생활사 박물관을 설립하여 예술공연, 사진 전시, 생활용품 전시, 워크숍 등 운영 △군도 20호선 유휴부지 일대에 보부상 마켓이라는 프리마켓과 보부상 주막이라는 먹거리존 운영 등 역사와 문화가 병존할 수 있는 세부사업을 제시했다.
군은 울진군 지역발전협의회 및 죽변면 주요 기관단체와 관계부서 의견을 수렴하고, 다자간 지속적 협의를 통하여 죽변항 일대 역사·문화공간 조성을 위한 과업수행을 마무리할 예정이다.
전찬걸 울진군수는“이번 사업을 통해 죽변항 일대가 남녀노소를 한 곳에 모을 수 있는 문화교류의 중심지로 거듭나 침체되어있는 지역경제에 활기를 불어넣고, 더불어 시가지 경관 회복을 통한 새로운 지역재생 모델 제시로 지역민의 삶의 질 향상에 기여할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
