[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 서일준 국회의원은 고용노동부에서 열린 제9차 고용정책심의회를 통해 거제시 고용위기지역 및 조선업 특별고용지원업종 지정기간 재연장이 확정됐다고 16일 밝혔다.
이번 결정으로 거제시는 고용노동부로부터 △고용안정을 위한 직업능력개발 관련 기업 지원 △지역맞춤형일자리창출 △일자리 관련 사업비 우선 지원을 통한 지역 고용촉진 및 취업지원 대책 등 다양한 지원을 받게 된다.
기존 고용위기지역 고시는 1년 범위 내 2회 연장만 가능해서 거제시, 창원시 진해구, 통영시, 고성군 등 경남 4개 지역은 올해 12월 31일까지로 지원이 중단될 위기에 놓여있었다. 고용부는 지난 10월 고용위기지역 지정을 1년 더 연장할 수 있도록 고시를 개정했고, 이를 근거로 이번에 거제를 고용위기지역으로 재지정했다.
조선업이 세계적인 호황기를 맞아 차츰 업황이 개선되고는 있지만, 현장까지 일감이 도착하는데 발생하는 2년여간의 시차와 수년간 이어온 불황, 수주가뭄으로 거제는 고용위기가 당분간 지속될 상황이다.
서일준 국회의원은 “이번 결정은 조선업의 본격 회복기를 대비해 숙련인력 고용유지 및 신규 인력 확보를 위한 정부 차원의 지원이 절실히 필요한 적의 시점에 결정된 것으로 의미가 크다”며 “앞으로도 거제의 안정적인 고용유지와 신규 인력 확보를 위한 정책적 지원 방안을 마련하기 위해 총력을 기울일 것이라”고 밝혔다.
