아동문학가 장만호 시인은 붕어빵 할아버지로 통한다. 그의 동시집 중에 "붕어빵이 없어졌어요" 와 "붕어빵이 돌아왔어요"가 있기 때문. 장만호 시인은 붕어빵 시리즈를 읽은 초등학교 2학년 아이가 길에서 시인이 지나가는 것을 보고 인사를 하며 친구들에게 붕어빵 할아버지로 소개를 한다. 그래서 시인은 그날부터 '붕어빵 할아버지'가 된 것. 장 시인은 아이들이 불러 주는 그 호칭이 무척 좋다고 말한다.
