대구가톨릭대, 장애 고교생 대학생활 체험 프로그램 운영

대구가톨릭대(총장 우동기)가 지난 2개월 간 장애 고교생의 대학 진학과 학업의 안정적인 적응을 지원하기 위해 대학생활 체험 프로그램을 운영했다고 밝혔다.

대구가톨릭대는 지난해 10월부터 12월 31일까지 대구·경북지역 15개 고교 총 87명을 대상으로 고교 장애학생 대학생활 체험 프로그램을 진행했다.

교육부의 지원으로 시행된 이 프로그램은 장애가 있는 고교생이 대학을 방문해 입학상담과 학과체험, 캠퍼스 투어, 심리·진로상담, 동아리 체험, 수업 참가 등을 할 수 있도록 하여 대학 생활에 대한 이해를 넓히기 위해 마련되었다.

이러한 프로그램은 학생들의 체험 기회뿐만 아니라 대학에게도 차별 없는 교육서비스를 제공하기 위해 실질적인 준비를 할 수 있는 시간이 되었다.

행사에 참여한 한 학생은 “새로운 것에 도전하는 두려움이 있었지만 점차 흥미로워졌다. 학과별 직업 체험을 해보니 대학에 입학할 때 많은 도움이 될 것 같다”고 말했다.

장우영 대구가톨릭대 장애학생지원센터장은 “인성교육을 중요시하는 우리 대학의 정체성에 부합해 프로그램을 운영할 때 전국에서 가장 많은 학생을 유치할 수 있었다. 참가 학생들의 이해와 요구를 반영해 앞으로 더욱 깊이 있는 학업·진로·취업 프로그램을 제공할 것”이라고 말했다.
