거제시민, 우선 정책 과제 경제·산업 선택

[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 거제시민의 절반 이상이 거제시 관련 주요 정책 분야 가운데 최우선으로 경제·산업분야를 위해 노력해야 한다고 생각하는 것으로 확인됐다.

서일준 국회의원은 작년에 이어 올해도 거제시 정책 분야 과제에 대한 시민여론조사를 추진했다. 거제시민의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 시민들의 의견을 직접 수렴하고 이를 정책에 반영하려는 의도다. 이번 여론조사는 거제시에 거주하는 만 18세 이상 남녀 1,528명을 대상으로, 6개의 정책 분야 및 거제시에 특화된 36개 세부정책과제를 주제로 진행되었다.

응답에 참여한 거제시민 중 절반이 넘는 52.7%가 가장 먼저 힘써야 할 정책 분야로 경제·산업분야를 선택했고 지난해 응답자의 47.6%가 경제·산업분야를 우선으로 선택한 것보다 5% 이상 높아진 수치다. 관광분야와 문화·복지분야도 각각 23.5%와 7.6%를 기록했으며 그외 교통(5.9%), 생활정주환경 개선(5.3%), 교육(3.5%) 순으로 관심도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.

서일준 의원은 “거제시민이 경제·산업분야를 최우선 과제로 꼽은 것은 경제 한파와 코로나19로 지역 경제가 총체적 불황의 늪에 빠졌다는 우려가 반영된 것”이라며, “거제시민 뜻을 받들어 정책의 우선순위를 정하고 지역경제를 위한 주요 현안들이 꼭 실현될 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다할 것”이라고 강조했다.
