[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 경상남도교육청은 학생들에게 민주화운동 역사교육 활성화를 위해 17일 창원시와 ‘청소년 역사의식 함양을 위한 지역공동교육 업무협약’을 체결했다.
양 기관은 이번 협약을 통해 지난해 개관한 ‘3?15의거 발원지 기념관’ 등 창원지역의 민주화운동 유적지를 활용하여 학생들에게 생동감 있는 현장학습 공간을 제공하고 현장학습 시 해설 프로그램 제공, 학령별 맞춤형 교재 제작에 대한 인적·물적 지원 등 민주화운동 역사교육을 위해 상호 협력하기로 했다.
경남교육청은 지난해 12월 3?15의거 정신의 전국적인 확산을 위해 제주교원들을 대상으로 3?15의거 연수를 운영하였으며 ‘3?15의거와 함께하는 창원사랑’이라는 지역사 교재를 발간·보급하는 등 우리 지역 민주주의 역사교육을 위해 노력하고 있다.
박종훈 교육감은 “창원은 3?15의거, 부마민주항쟁, 6월민주항쟁에 이르기까지 대한민국 민주화운동 역사의 중심에 있었다. 이번 협약이 우리 지역의 민주주의 역사에 대한 교육역량 향상에 기여하기를 기대하며 성공적인 결실을 거둘 수 있도록 각별한 소통과 협력을 이어갔으면 한다.”고 말했다.
허성무 창원시장은 “이번 협약을 통해 ‘3?15의거 발원지 기념관’을 비롯한 다양한 자원들을 활용하여 우리 지역의 학생들에게 민주화운동의 역사를 생생하게 교육하고 그 위대한 정신을 계승할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다.”고 말했다.
