브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대선후보는 3일 배우자 김혜경씨가 경기도 비서실 법인카드를 사적유용하고 공무원들에게 사적 심부름을 시켰다는 의혹에 대해 "국민께 송구하다"고 사과했다.
이재명 후보는 이날 오전 기자에게 보낸 입장문을 통해 "경기도지사로 재직 당시 근무하던 직원의 일로 심려를 끼쳐드려 죄송하다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "지사로서 직원의 부당행위는 없는지 꼼꼼히 살피지 못했고, 저의 배우자도 문제가 될 수 있는 일들을 미리 감지하고 사전에 차단하지 못했다"면서 "더 엄격한 잣대로 스스로와 주변을 돌아보려 노력했다고 생각했는데 여전히 모자랐다"고 말했다.
그는 부인의 경기도 법인카드 사적 유용 의혹에 대해 "보도된 내용을 포함해 도지사 재임 시절 부적절한 법인카드 사용이 있었는지를 감사기관에서 철저히 감사해 진상을 밝혀주기 바란다"며 "문제가 드러날 경우 규정에 따라 책임지겠다"고 강조했다.
그러면서 "이번을 계기로 저와 가족, 주변까지 더 신중하게 생각하고 행동하겠다. 다시 한 번 국민 여러분께 송구하다는 말씀 드린다"고 거듭 사과했다.
