깨시연당(깨어있는시민연대당·대표 이민구)은 7일자 보도자료에서 “인물기행 ‘이낙연의 길’ 저자 서주원 작가가 깨시연당(깨어있는시민연대당·대표 이민구) 후보로 종로구 보궐선거에 나서며 8일 출마 선언을 한다. 이날 오후 2시 종로 2가 문화공간 ‘온’에서 열리는 출마 선언식엔 깨시연당 이민구 대표, 더불어민주당정풍운동연대 송명식 상임 공동대표 등이 참석할 예정”이라고 밝혔다.
이날 선언식에서 서주원 작가는 “대한망국 금수회의 소인가? 국회, 판을 확 갈아봅시다!’, ‘이낙연의 길, 서주원의 길, 함께 갑시다, 우리 이 길을!” 등의 슬로건을 내걸고 출사표를 던진다고 알렸다.
서주원 작가는 1965년 전북 부안군 위도면에서 태어났다. 위도중학교를 졸업한 뒤, 전주에 있는 상산고등학교에 진학했다. 상산고 1회 졸업생이다. 성균관대학교에서 중어중문학을 전공했다. 현 한국방송작가협회 회원으로 KBS TV와 라디오, 국악방송, 국방FM, 교통방송 등에서 방송작가로 활동했다.

고 노무현 대통령 10주기인 2019년 5월엔 실록정치소설 ‘봉하노송의 절명’ 1권을 펴냈다. 노무현 대통령의 생애 마지막 하룻밤을 밤을 다룬 이 소설은 향후 2·3권이 더 출간될 예정이다.
서주원 작가는 20대 대선을 앞둔 2020년엔 인물기행 ‘이낙연의 길’을 펴냈다. ‘황톳길 길섶에 핀 들꽃이 어찌 바람을 탓하랴!’라는 부제를 단 인물기행 ‘이낙연의 길’은 지난해 민주당 경선 과정에서 유권자들이 이낙연 전 총리가 살아온 인생길을 대강이라도 살펴보고, 미래 국가지도자로서 자격과 능력을 충분히 갖췄는지 따져보는 참고서로 활용됐다.
