브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 우상호 더불어민주당 선거대책위원회 총괄선대본부장은 28일 윤석열-안철수 대선후보간 야권단일화 협상 결렬과 관련 "사실 뒤에서 모든 걸 주무르는 사람은 역시 장제원 의원이었구나 하는 것을 확인시켜줬다"고 밝혔다.
우상호 본부장은 이날 TBS 라디오 '김어준의 뉴스공장'에서 "장제원 의원은 백의종군한다며 직책을 다 내려놓았는데 후보와 후보 간에 단일화 협상이라는 최고 중요한 역할을 맡았다"며 이같이 말했다.
앞서 이준석 국민의힘 대표는 장제원 의원을 이른바 '윤핵관(윤석열 핵심 관계자)'으로 지목하며 선대위 내 영향력을 행사한다고 비판하자, 장 의원은 백의종군을 선언한 바 있다. 하지만 이번 야권단일화 협상 과정에서 윤 후보측 전권(全權) 대리인을 맡아 물밑 작업을 진행해온 사실이 윤석열 후보를 통해 공개됐다.
윤석열 후보는 지난 27일 기자회견에서 전권 대리인이 누군지 묻는 기자들의 질문에 "우리 측은 장제원 의원, 안 후보 측은 이태규 의원"이라고 밝히며 "장제원 의원의 매형이 카이스트(KAIST) 교수인데, 안 후보와 가까운 사이로 알고 있어서 (안 후보 측에) 의사를 전달하기가 편하지 않겠나 생각했다"고 임명 배경을 설명했다.

이에 우상호 본부장은 "장 의원은 랩퍼 하던 아드님 문제도 있고, 또 이준석 대표하고 갈등 과정에서 윤핵관으로 지명돼 이선후퇴하신 분 아니냐"면서 "국민들이 볼 때, 뒤로 물러나 있다고 한 사람이 사실 전면에서 제일 중요한 것을 핸들링하고 있었네, 이렇게 알게 됐다. 그렇다면 지난번에 했던 얘기는 거짓말이었구나. 국민을 속였구나. 저는 그렇게 지적한 것"이라고 비판했다.
우 본부장은 또한 야권단일화가 합의됐다 하더라도 선거 판세엔 크게 영향을 끼치지 않을 것이라고 했다.
그는 "이번주 금토요일이 사전투표이기 때문에 설사 단일화가 극적 합의돼도 그렇게 큰 영향은 없다. 사실 어제가 (단일화) 마지막 타임이었다. 오늘 투표용지 인쇄가 들어가지 않나"라고 말했다.
이어 그는 윤 후보측에서 협상 과정을 공개하며 결렬 책임을 마치 안 후보측에 있다고 발언한 것은 문제가 있다고 지적했다.
우 본부장은 "대선후보가 직접 나서 단일화 결렬 책임이 안 후보에게 있다고 선언하는 모습은 대단히 부적절했다"며 "내밀한 협상 내용을 다 까면서 '그렇지만 당신의 연락을 기다리겠다'고 이야기하는 건 굉장히 못된 짓"이라고 꼬집었다.
그는 "어제부로 사실상 협상조차 더 이뤄지기 어려울 것"이라고 내다보며 "협상 파트너들의 이름과 오갔던 대화까지 다 깠는데 어떻게 협상이 이뤄지겠느냐. 불가능하다"고 전망했다.
