브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 장성민 세계와동북아평화포럼 이사장은 8일 대선 판세와 관련, 영국의 민주주의 측정기관인 '이코노미스트 인텔리전스 유닛'(EIU)이 윤석열 국민의힘 후보의 당선을 예측했다고 밝혔다.
EIU는 영국 시사경제주간지 이코노미스트의 계열사로 전 세계의 정치, 경제에 대한 분석과 전망을 내놓는 기관이다.
장성민 이사장은 이날 자신의 페이스북에 "EIU에서 차기 한국 대통령으로 윤석열 후보가 될 것으로 예상하고, 동시에 그가 대통령에 당선된 이후 맞게 될 한국 정치경제 상황도 간략하게 설명했다"고 전했다.
장 이사장에 따르면 EIU는 윤석열 후보의 당선을 전망하면서 한국의 재정정책과 외교정책이 변화될 것이라고 봤다. 국회에선 진보성향의 민주당이 계속해서 다수당 지위를 유지, 윤석열 정부의 주요 정책이 국회에 가로막혀 교착상태에 빠질 리스크가 높아질 것이라고 전망했다.
또한 윤석열 후보가 대통령에 당선된 이후 2022년 한국경제의 실질 GDP 성장률은 2.9%로 예상되며 소비자물가상승도 높아질 것으로 전망했다. 한국이 러시아의 우크라이나 침공에 대한 제재조치에 동참한 데 따른 보복조치로 한국의 에너지와 반도체 핵심자재 공급에 영향을 미칠 것이라고 설명했다.
장 이사장은 "민주주의를 평가하는 권위있는 기관의 이런 예측은 윤석열 후보의 대통령 당선이 곧 한국민주주의 수준을 지금보다 한단계 더 업그레이드 될 것으로 기대하고 있는 것"이라며 "한국의 대통령 당선자로 윤석열 후보를 지목했다는 것은 민주주의를 향한 정권교체는 거대한 흐름이 됐고, 이 역사적 흐름은 이제 돌이킬 수 없는 상황에 이르렀음을 의미한다. 내일 대한민국은 민주주의를 위한 정권교체로 민주역사의 대장정이 시작될 것이다. 이제 정권교체의 봄은 되돌이킬 수 없는 미래적 현실이 됐다"고 했다.
그러면서 "이재명 후보의 당선 가능성에 대해서는 단 1%도 언급하지 않은 것은 그가 전과 4범에다 대장동 부패게이트의 몸통이며 검사사칭에 국제파 조폭과의 공생관계 등 그의 당선이 곧 한국민주주의의 적신호이거나 민주주의에 대한 중대한 위협으로 보았기 때문일 것"이라고 주장했다.
