하동군, 화개장터 인근 섬진강에 어린 은어·연어 방류

[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 하동군은 지난 14일 화개면 화개장터 인근 섬진강에 회귀성 어종인 어린 은어 2만 마리와 어린 연어 5만 마리를 방류했다고 15일 밝혔다.

군은 내수면의 수산자원 증식과 농어업인 소득 증대, 관광 자원화에 기여하고자 경남도수산자원연구소 민물고기연구센터와 함께 매년 섬진강에 어린 은어와 어린 연어 방류사업을 하고 있다.

군은 코로나19로 확산 방지를 위해 이날 경남도와 하동군 관계자만 참여한 가운데 수정란 부화 후 100여 일된 어린 고기를 방류했다.

경남도수산자원연구소 민물고기연구센터는 은어 자원량 증가를 위해 2010년 10월 섬진강에 채란상을 이용한 은어 수정란 1500만 알을 시작으로 12년째 1억만여 알을 무상 방류하고 있다.

군은 방류한 수면에 어린 고기가 정착할 때까지 잡는 행위를 금지하는 한편, 경찰 등 유관기관·단체와 협조체계를 구축해 불법 어업 행위 단속을 벌여나갈 계획이다.

군 관계자는 “앞으로도 매년 예산을 들여 지역주민이 선호하는 내수면 토속어종 방류사업을 지속적으로 추진해 내수면 수산자원을 증식하고, 농어업인의 소득 증대에 기여할 것”이라고 말했다.
