더불어민주당 장종태 대전시장 예비후보가 1만명 규모의 매머드급 경선 선거대책위원회를 구성하고 본격적인 대전시장 선거운동에 돌입했다.
장종태 캠프는 23일 오후 대전 용두동 골든타워에 있는 선거사무실에서 경선 선거대책위원회 출범식을 갖고 임명장을 전달했다.
대전지역 각계각층의 장종태 지지자들을 중심으로 1만명 규모의 선대위 조직을 구성했으며 행사에는 코로나19 방역지침을 준수해 상임고문, 위원장, 본부장급 등 250여 명이 참석해 임명장을 받았다.
장종태 경선 선대위 총괄 상임위원장은 김기복 이엘치과병원회장, 상임위원장은 김진원 전 서구문화원장과 신관순 대한미용사협회 대전서구지회장이 임명됐다. 또 상임고문은 김병욱 충남대 명예교수, 김병구 서구노인회장, 송영진 선화교회 목사, 성불사 주지 해조스님, 정기창 전 권선택시장 후원회장, 한숭동 전 대덕대 총장 등이 맡았다. 또 총괄선대본부장은 이창기 전 대전발전연구원장이 임명됐다.
장종태 대전시장 예비후보는 인사말을 통해 “선대위 출범식을 시작으로 ‘더 강한 대전’을 위한 ‘위대한 도전’에 나설 것”이라며 “선대위 여러분과 더불어민주당 당원 여러분, 그리고 150만 대전 시민들과 함께 승리하겠다”고 말했다.

장종태 대전시장 예비후보는 30년 이상 대전 발전을 위해 일한 ‘행정 전문가’이다. 대전시 9급 공무원으로 공직에 입문해 민선 6-7기(2014. 7.~2022. 1.) 서구청장을 역임했으며, 대전 자치단체장으로는 유일하게 매니페스토 기초단체장 공약이행 평가에서 6년 연속 최우수(SA) 등급을 받는 등 서구를 성공적으로 이끌었다. 또 신문팔이와 소년공으로 일하며 중·고등학교를 검정고시로 마친 ‘흙수저’ 출신으로, 포기하지 않고 학업을 계속해 행정학 박사학위를 받았다.
