'장소팔-고춘자의 만담'은 한때 유명한 만담(漫談) 프로였다. 국민들은 이 만담프로를 보고 들으면서 웃음을 자아냈다. 그 주인공인 장소팔 만담가가 올해 8월13일로 ‘탄생 100주년’을 맞는다. 만담을 위한 재담 수업은 일제 강점기 시기에 받았다. 그러나 그의 웃음활동 시작은 해방 이후, 6.25 전쟁 전후였다. 전쟁 이후의 암담한 시기에 웃음을 창조해 국민들에게 ‘하하하 웃음’을 선사했던 것. 뿐만 아니라, 대한민국 고도 경제성장기의 힘든 시기에 위로의 웃음을 주었다. 그러므로. 그는 ‘한국이 낳은 위대한 만담가’라고 호칭할 수 있다.

장소팔 만담가를 기리는 단체로는 ‘장소팔기념사업회’ ‘장소팔극장’ ‘만담보존회’가 있다. 이 단체들의 회장은 장광팔 박사(본명-장광혁. 장소팔 만담가의 큰아들)가 맡고 있다. 장소팔 만담가를 기리는 대표적인 단체인 ‘장소팔기념사업회’의 장광팔 회장은 오는 8월15일에 장소팔 만담가의 탄생100주년 행사를 가지려고 준비 중이라고 밝혔다. 행사의 모토는 “장소팔 선생 탄생100주년 함께 웃는 대한민국”이다.
