브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당은 21일 6·1 지방선거 서울시장 후보를 100% 국민 경선을 통해 선출하기로 했다. 이에 따라 앞서 송영길 전 대표와 박주민 의원에 대한 공천 배제 결정도 철회됐다.
고용진 민주당 수석대변인은 이날 오후 국회에서 열린 비대위 회의 직후 기자들과 만나 "서울시장 후보는 100% 국민 경선으로 선출하고 결선투표를 실시하기로 했다. TV토론도 1회 이상 한다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
고용진 수석대변인은 "이는 전략공천관리위원회 결정 사항"이라며 "비대위에서 논의됐던 송영길 전 대표와 박주민 의원에 대한 배제 없이,이 분들도 포함하기로 했다. 22일까지 추가로 후보를 더 영입해 적정 숫자를 경선에 포함시키기로 했다"고 설명했다.
한편 송영길 전 대표는 이같은 소식에 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "환영한다. 경선을 통해 원팀 민주당을 만들어 반드시 서울시장에서 승리하겠다"고 각오를 다졌다.
Democratic Party withdraws cut-off of Song Young-gil and Park Joo-min for Seoul mayor 100%
On the 21st, the Democratic Party of Korea decided to elect candidates for Seoul mayor in the June 1 local elections through the 100% national primary. As a result, the decision to exclude Song Young-gil and Park Joo-min from nominating candidates was also withdrawn.
After a meeting of the emergency committee held at the National Assembly later in the day, Democratic Party spokesman Ko Yong-jin told reporters, "Seoul mayoral candidate will be elected 100% by the people's primary and hold a runoff vote. We also have more than one debate on TV," he said.
"This is a decision made by the Strategic Nomination Management Committee," said senior spokesman Ko Yong-jin. "We decided to include them without excluding former CEO Song Young-gil and lawmaker Park Joo-min, who were discussed at the emergency committee. We decided to recruit more candidates by the 22nd and include the appropriate number in the primary," he said.
Meanwhile, former CEO Song Young-gil said on his Facebook page, "We welcome the news. I will win the Seoul mayor by forming a one-team Democratic Party through the primary."
