국민의힘 최민호 세종시장 예비후보가 세종시장 후보 결정을 위한 당내 경선에서 경쟁을 펼친 성선재 후보를 따돌리고 세종시장 후보로 최종 확정됐다.
후보로 확정된 최민호 예비후보는 책임당원 선거인단 득표수와 일반 여론조사를 합산한 득표율에서67.50%의 앞도적인 득표율을 기록해 32.50%의 득표를 한 성선재 예비후보를 따돌렸다.
세종시장 후보로 확정된 최민호 예비후보(이하 최 후보)는 언론에 배포한 후보 수락연설문을 통해 “시정 교체, 세종시민 승리의 시대를 열겠습니다”고 밝혔다.
최 후보는 이날 “기쁨에 앞서 엄중한 책임감과 시정교체에 무거운 사명감을 느낀다”고 말하고 “김중로 세종시장 위원장을 중심으로 송아영 전 세종시당위원장과 조관식 세종시민포럼 대표, 정원희 세종시도농융합연구원장, 이성용 세종도시발전연구소 소장과도 허락해주신다면 함께 하겠다”고 말했다.
