대전 지역 과학산업계 인사 40여명이 12일 오후 5시 서구 둔산동 ‘온통행복캠프’에서 “대전을 과학수도로 이끌어 갈 적임자는 더불어민주당 허태정 후보 뿐”이라며 지지를 선언했다.
행사는 대전 과학산업계 교수, 연구원, 벤처기업 대표 등 501명을 대표하는 과학산업계 7명의 인사가 차례로 허 후보 지지 이유를 소개하며 진행됐다.
한국경제과학기술협력협의회 민병찬 수석부회장은 모두 발언을 통해 “허태정 후보는 역대 어느 시장도 해내지 못한 대덕특구 및 과학산업 관련 성과와 혁신적 변화를 만들어 냈다”며 “한 번 더 웅비하는 대전을 만들기 위해 과학계 인사들이 뜻을 모아 여기에 모였다”고 지지선언 배경을 밝혔다.
이어 박종팔 과학기술출연기관장협의회 전 사무국장은 “허 후보는 산업단지대개조 사업을 통해 대전의 전통제조업의 경쟁력을 강화하고 기술기반 신산업 육성을 선도했다”고, 원구환 한남대 교수는 “각자도생하던 대덕연구개발특구를 지역주도와 융합혁신 협력을 핵심으로 하는 종합계획으로 확정하도록 했다”고 지지이유를 밝혔다.
