브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 성일종 국민의힘 정책위의장은 18일 더불어민주당이 한동훈 법무부장관 임명을 놓고 협치를 강조한지 하루만에 의회주의를 뒤집었다며 지명철회를 요구하는데 대해 "(한 장관은) 결함이 없는 후보이고 청문회를 하면서 하자나 문제가 팩트로 나온 게 없지 않냐"고 밝혔다.
성일종 의원은 이날 오전 CBS라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'에서 "청문회 과정을 다 진행한 뒤 문제없는 장관을 임명하지 말라고 요구하는 것은 의회주의인가"라며 이같이 말했다.
그는 한동훈 장관 임명으로 한덕수 총리 후보자 인준을 부결할 명분이 생긴 게 아니냐는 진행자의 질문엔 "부결할 수가 없을 것이다. 우리가 성자를 뽑는 건 아니다. 과거에 여러 법무부 장관이나 다른 장관하고 비교했을 때 한 장관이 큰 결함이 없는 후보인 것은 국민들께서 다 알고 계신다"고 설명했다.
이어 그는 "지금 민주당이 한덕수 총리 후보자의 인준을 미루는 것은 새 정부에 대한 발목잡기이고 '한동훈 법무부 장관을 임명 안 하면 한덕수 총리를 인준해 주겠다'는 것 또한 의회가 할 수 있는 일이 아니다"라고 꼬집었다.
그러면서 "(한덕수 총리 인준안이 부결된다면) 부결 책임이 야당에 있든 여당에 있든 그 판단은 국민들께서 하실 거라고 판단한다"고 했다.
정호영 보건복지부 장관 후보자 임명이 미뤄지고 있는데 대해선 "국민 여론이나 의혹들이 팩트로 증명된 것이 있는지 없는지에 대한 좀 더 면밀한 검토 과정이 남아 있지 않나 하는 생각이 든다"면서도 "의혹이 팩트로 안 나오더라도 국민 정서가 기저에 깔려서 돌아가고 있는지 이런 판단들도 함께 하지 않을까 생각한다"고 말했다.
