또한, 군은 대형 산불로 피해를 입은 삼척, 동해 ,강릉시와 함께 재해지원 기준 상향 조정 등 제도개선 촉구 건의문을 행정안전부에 방문·전달하고 기자 간담회도 개최했다.
이번 정부청사 방문은 대형 산불로 큰 어려움을 겪고 있는 지역 주민이 피해를 빠른 시일 내 극복하여 일상으로 돌아 갈 수 있도록 피해복구 및 생활 안정 지원 확대, 재난 및 안전관리제도의 근본적인 개선의 필요성을 건의하기 위해 마련되었다.
전찬걸 울진군수는 “산불로 인해 이재민과 많은 재산 피해가 발생했지만 기초지방정부가 함께 힘을 모아 위기를 극복할 것으로 확신한다”며 “보다 섬세하고 세밀한 지원방안들로 제도가 개선이 되어 피해지역 주민들이 경제적·정신적 피해를 신속히 회복할 수 있기를 바란다”고 전했다.
