이낙연 더불어민주당 상임고문(전 국무총리)이 주말인 28일 대전을 방문해 연임 시장 탄생을 위한 허태정 대전시장 후보에 대한 시민들의 지지를 호소했다.
이낙연 상임고문은 이날 오후 허태정 대전시장 후보와 함께 대덕구 석봉동 신탄진전통시장과 서구 관저동 마치광장을 잇따라 방문해 지원 유세 활동을 벌였다.
이낙연 상임고문은 신탄진전통시장 집중 유세에서 “선거공보물을 그냥 버리지 말고 전과 기록 같은 걸 찬찬히 보고 이 사람이 과거에 무슨 일을 했는지 알아야 한다”며 “공금을 이상한 데 쓴 일은 없는지, 부동산에 욕심이 많은 것은 아닌지, 꼭 따져봐야 한다”고 강조했다.

이어 “허태정을 뽑아주면 그 대목에 대해서는 안심해도 될 것”이라며 “대전이 꼭 해야 할 일을 완성하는 것도 걱정 안 해도 될 인물”이라고 말했다.
이 상임고문은 “허태정 후보는 30평대 아파트에 장인, 장모를 모시고 살고 있고, 장인어른은 누워 지내신 지 오래됐다. 또 지금은 돌아가셨지만 중증장애를 앓고 있던 처남도 함께 살았다”며 “이런 사람이 선한 마음으로 세상을 살려고 노력하는 사람”이라고 허 후보를 칭찬했다.
