김병준 대통령인수위원회 지역균형발전특별위원회 위원장이 29일 조치원 재래시장을 방문, 최민호 국민의 힘 세종시장 후보 지원 유세를 펼쳤다.
공식선거운동 마지막 주말이자 장날을 맞아 김 위원장은 “세종시를 설계한 사람으로서 세종시를 볼 때마다 마음이 아프다. 세종특별자치시에 ‘특별’이 빠진 어색한 도시가 되고 있다”며 “특별한 교육도, 행정도 안 보이고 행정수도라는 이름만 붙어있다”며 아쉬움을 토로했다.
이어 “대전의 위성도시로 전락되고 있는 현실이 안타깝다”며 “당초 꿈꿔왔던 세종시로 발전시켜 줄 후보는 최민호다. 최민호를 지지하면 행정수도가 완성된다”며 최 후보 지지를 호소했다.
최 후보는 “어제 인기가수 김수희에 이어 오늘은 세종시의 설계와 제안을 한 김병준 위원장이 세종에 왔다. 세종과 인연이 깊은 김 위원장은 윤석열 대통령을 만드는데 큰 기여를 한 분”이라며 “이제 3일 남았다. 지금은 투표가 최대의 전략으로, 오늘부터 투표 전까지 캠프를 폐쇄했다. 유권자를 만나 투표를 독려하기 위한 것으로 꼭 투표를 해달라”고 당부했다.
김 위원장과 최 후보는 유세를 마친 뒤 재래시장을 누비며 시민들을 일일이 만나 악수를 나누며 지지를 당부했다.
