브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 6·1 지방선거 본투표가 1일 오전 6시부터 시작됐다. 유권자들은 전국 1만4465개 투표소 중 자신이 지정된 투표소에서만 투표가 가능하다.
이번 지방선거에선 광역단체장 17명, 교육감 17명, 시·군·구 기초단체장 226명, 광역의원 824명, 기초의원 2927명 등이 뽑힌다.
국회의원 보궐선거 지역은 대구 수성을, 인천 계양을, 경기 성남 분당갑, 강원 원주갑, 충남 보령·서천, 경남 창원시 의창구, 제주 제주을 등 총 7곳이다.
앞서 지난달 27~28일 사전투표에 참여한 유권자는 전체 4430만3449명 중 913만3522명으로, 본투표일에는 나머지 3516만9927명이 투표할 수 있다.
일반 유권자의 경우 이날 오후 6시까지 투표가 가능하다. 코로나19 확진자 및 격리 대상자들은 일반유권자가 투표를 마친 뒤인 오후 6시부터 7시30분까지만 할 수 있다.
투표 용지는 일부 지역에 따라 다르긴 하나 7장의 투표용지를 두차례에 걸쳐 나눠 받게된다. 이번 선거에선 지방선거에서는 ▲광역단체장(시·도지사) ▲교육감 ▲기초단체장(자치구·시·군의 장) ▲지역구 광역의원 ▲지역구 기초의원 ▲비례대표 광역의원 ▲비례대표 기초의원 등 1인 7표를 행사해야 한다.
광역단체장과 기초단체장, 교육감 투표용지 3장을 먼저 받아 기표하고 투표함에 투입한 뒤, 다시 2차로 광역의원과 기초의원, 비례대표 광역의원, 비례대표 기초의원 투표용지 4장을 받아 기표 후 두 번째 투표함에 투입해야 한다.
국회의원 재보궐 선거가 있는 지역이라면 1차에 4장을 받게된다.
코로나 사태로 인해 투표시간이 보다 길어진 만큼 당선자 윤곽은 자정에나 드러날 것으로 보인다. 유권자가 많거나, 후보간 접전 지역이라면 다음날 새벽 2~3시경 승패가 가려질 전망이다.

한편 이번 선거는 윤석열 대통령이 취임한 지 23일만에 치러지는 선거여서, 정치권에선 국민의힘에 유리하게 흘러갈 것으로 보고 있다. 국민의힘에서도 광역단체장 9곳+α(알파)를 확신하는 분위기다.
반면 제1야당인 더불어민주당은 목표치를 최대 4석으로 예상하며 '정권 견제'를 위해 투표로 지지해달라고 읍소하고 있는 상태다.

The main vote for the June 1 local elections began at 6 a.m. on the 1st. Voters can vote only at their designated polling stations out of 14,465 polling stations nationwide.
In this local election, 17 heads of metropolitan governments, 17 superintendents of education, 226 heads of municipal, county and district governments, 824 councilors, and 2,927 councilors will be selected.
There are a total of seven by-election areas, including Suseong in Daegu, Gyeyang in Incheon, Bundang Gap in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, Wonju Gap in Gangwon Province, Boryeong and Seocheon in Chungcheongnam-do, Uichang-gu in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeju-eul.
Earlier, 9,133,522 out of a total of 44.303,449 voters participated in the pre-voting from the 27th to the 28th of last month, and the remaining 35,169,927 people can vote on the main voting day.
Ordinary voters can vote until 6 p.m. that day. COVID-19 confirmed patients and those subject to quarantine can only do it from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. after the general voter finishes voting.
Voting papers will be divided into seven separate ballots, although they vary from region to region. In this election, ▲ the head of a metropolitan government (Governor) ▲ the superintendent of education ▲ the head of a local government (Chief of a autonomous district, city, county) ▲ the local government ▲ the proportional representative ▲ the proportional representative.
After receiving three ballots from the head of a metropolitan government, the head of a local government, and the superintendent of education, he/she shall vote and put them into the second ballot box.
Any region with by-elections for lawmakers will receive four tickets in the first round.
As the voting time has been prolonged due to the COVID-19 incident, the outline of the winner is expected to be revealed only at midnight. If there are many voters or if there is a close race between candidates, the victory or defeat is expected to be decided around 2 to 3 a.m. the next day.
Meanwhile, the election will be held 23 days after President Yoon Seok-yeol took office, which is expected to be favorable to the people's power. Even with the power of the people, it seems that they are confident that nine heads of metropolitan and provincial governments + alpha (Alpha).
On the other hand, the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea expects the target to be up to four seats and is appealing for support by voting to "check the regime."
