국가철도공단이 국민 교통편익 증진과 호남 지역경제 활성화를 위해 올해 호남권 3개 철도사업을 차질없이 추진하기로 했다.
22일 철도공단에 따르면 호남고속철도 2단계 건설사업에 3,025억원, 보성∼임성리 철도건설사업에 1,229억원, 진주∼광양 전철화 사업에 371억원 등 올해 4,625억원의 사업비를 투입한다.
가장 많은 사업비가 투입되는 호남고속철도 2단계 사업은 2025년 완공을 목표로 광주 송정에서 무안국제공항을 경유해 목포까지 연결한다. 총사업비는 2조 5,300억원이며 구간 운행 최고속도는 시속 300km/h이다.
2단계 구간 중 광주 송정에서 고막원까지 26.4km는 기존 호남선을 고속화(최고속도 230km/h)하는 구간으로 지난 2019년 6월에 개통됐다. 고속철도 전용선로를 신설하는 고막원에서 목포까지 44.6km 구간은 7개 공구로 나눠 노반 공사가 진행중이다.
