충남도의회는 4일 제12대 의회의 개원식을 열고 충남의 더 큰 미래를 열기 위해 화합할 것을 다짐했다.
이날 개원식에는 조길연 의장 등 12대 의원 48명과 김태흠 충남도지사, 김지철 교육감을 비롯해 의회사무처, 도·교육청 간부 등 120명이 참석했다.
개원식은 국민의례와 의원선서, 개원사, 축사 등의 순서로 진행됐다. 의회는 개원식에 220만 도민과 함께 새로운 미래를 열어가자는 의미를 담으면서도, 검소하고 내실 있는 행사를 진행했다.
의원들은 선서를 통해 법령을 준수하고 도민의 권익 신장과 복리증진, 지역사회 발전을 위해 직무를 수행할 것을 다짐했다.

조 의장은 “집행부와 의회의 역할은 다르지만 도민 행복과 삶의 질 향상이라는 같은 목적을 향해 동행하고 있음은 변함이 없다”며 “충남도의회는 도정과 교육행정이 바르게 나아갈 수 있도록 견제와 감시라는 책무를 다하되, 소모적인 갈등이 아닌 협력적 동반자 관계를 구축해 나가기 위해 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “저에게 의장이라는 막중한 소임을 맡겨주신 동료의원님들께 다시 한 번 감사드린다”며 “지역과 당적을 초월해 마흔여덟 명의 의원이 도민 전체를 대표한다는 사명감을 가지고 충남의 도약과 현안 해결에 힘을 모아나가자”고 말했다.
도의회는 개원식 이후 의회 1층 로비에서 축하연을 열고 성공적인 12대 의회 운영을 위해 의회와 사무처, 집행부 모두 화합하고 노력할 것을 다짐했다.
