[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시의 내년 국비확보를 위해 지역 8개기관과 5개구 국회의원들이 원팀을 선언했다.
창원특례시 홍남표 시장은 14일 오전 국회 본관에서 지역 국회의원을 초청해 ‘국비 지원 건의 사업 및 정책 건의’를 위한 연석회의를 개최했다.
이는 홍 시장 민선 8기의 시작은 ‘국비 확보’로 첫 번째 공식 대외활동에 돌입했다.
정부가 내년부터 강력한 지출 구조조정을 예고한 상황에서 지자체 사업추진을 위한 국비 확보가 더욱 어려워진 만큼, 내년도 예산 확보를 위한 지역 국회의원의 역할이 그 어느 때보다 중요해졌다.
이날 연석회의는 김영선(의창구), 강기윤(성산구), 최형두(마산합포구), 윤한홍(마산회원구), 이달곤(진해구) 의원 등 지역 국회의원과 재료연구원 이정환 원장, 전기연구원 김남균 직무대행 및 마산지방해수청 명노헌 청장이 참석했으며, 창원대, 문성대, 창신대, 폴리텍Ⅶ대학도 건의 자료를 제출했다.
이번 유관기관이 함께한 창원시 사상 처음있는 일로 관내 어떤 기관이 정부 예산을 확보하든 결국 그 수혜자는 창원시민과 기업이기 때문에 국비확보를 위해서는 지역 유관기관 모두가 공조해야 한다는 것이 이번 연석회의의 취지이다.

이날 논의된 주요 건의 사업은 총 74건으로서 특히 원전, 미래산업, 항만물류 관련 핵심 사업 41건이 중점 논의됐다.
창원시의 발전을 위해서 ‘변화’와 ‘혁신’을 강조한 홍 시장은 이날 정책 건의의 화두로 먼저 ‘원자력 산업 조기 정상화’를 올렸다.
그간 탈원전 정책으로 무력화된 기업의 생태계를 복원하기 위해서는 미래원전 기업육성과 금융, 기술 컨설팅을 통한 원자력 조기 정상화를 지원할 수 있는 정부 예산 지원이 필요한 상황임을 역설했다.
특히 홍 시장은 “내년도 예산이 확보되면 필요한 기업에 잘 스며들게끔 해, 2025년 신한울 3, 4호기 건설이 재개되기 전까지는 충분히 활력을 되찾아야 관내 기업에 바로 파급효과가 오지 않는다”라며, 원자력 산업의 조기 정상화의 중요성을 재차 강조했다.
