[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 홍남표 창원특례시장은 21일 창원대학교 종합교육관에서 ‘2022 기동화력장비 전력발전포럼’에 참석해 “첨단 국방과학기술 클러스터 조성과 방위산업 인재 육성을 위한 체계적이고 다양한 방위산업 지원정책을 단계적으로 실행해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
방위사업청이 주최하고 국방기술품질원의 주관으로 올해로 6회째를 맞이한 이번 포럼에는 육군교육사령부, 창원대학교, 창원시 관계자와 방산기업과 방위산업 클러스터 회원사 등 300여 명이 참석했다.
포럼은 KAIST 양병희 교수의 ‘AI기반 첨단 과학기술군 건설’에 대한 기조강연과 창원대 기계공학부 박종규 교수의 ‘창원대 첨단방위공학 소개’가 이어졌고, 2부 학술세미나는 기동무기체계, 화력무기체계, 기동화력장비 첨단?미래기술에 대한 세미나로 3개의 세션으로 나눠 이뤄졌다.
참석자들과 4차 산업혁명 시대의 기동화력장비 신기술, 미래발전 방향에 대한 지식교류 및 협력방안과 방위산업의 기반 확대에 대한 공감대를 형성했다.
창원특례시는 국가지정 방산업체 85개사 중 17개사가 소재하고, 방산 협력업체 380여 개사가 생산활동을 하고 있다. 육군종합정비창, 해군정비창, 국방기술품질원 기동화력센터, 국방과학연구소 해양기술연구원, 한국재료연구원, 한국전기연구원 등 방위산업 연구 기반시설 소재와 방산 전문 인재가 집적된 K-방산의 메카다.
시는 최근 2년간 코로나19와 고유가, 고물가 등 국가 대내외적 경기 악화로 침체된 경제를 살리기 위해 민선8기 시정을 지역경제 활성화를 견인할 대표 산업으로 방위산업을 지목해 핵심공약으로 채택하는 한편, 민(기업)-관(창원시)-군(부대) 협력을 강화해 나가고 있다.
이와 함께 창원 소재 방산업체의 산·학·연·군간 최신 기술 공유와 정보교류의 장을 마련하는 등 방위산업의 경쟁력 강화를 위해 체계적인 행정지원에 나서는 가운데, 방위산업정책 밑그림에 대한 의견을 교환하고 참여한 방산 체계기업들의 뜨거운 관심을 받고 있다.
홍남표 시장은 “이번 포럼을 통해 국방개혁을 위한 군·관·산·학·연의 전략적 동반자로서의 결의를 다지고, 관내 소재한 방산기업들이 첨단 기술을 확보하여 글로벌 시장에 진출하는 등 제2도약 발판을 마련할 수 있도록 방위산업에 대한 체계적인 지원을 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
