고양시가 지난 7월 23일 고양동과 화정2동에서 ‘차 없는 거리 행사’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 보행자 중심의 거리 문화를 조성하기 위해 지역 주민의 자발적인 참여로 진행됐다.
고양동은 파리바게트에서 고양초등학교 사이 도로 약 100m 구간에서 주민자치회, 도시재생주민협의체, 높빛상인회 주관으로 ‘노CAR본높빛1번길’이라는 행사를 진행했다.

행사장에는 환경체험부스 등 다양한 문화프로그램이 진행됐다.
화정2동에서는 주민자치회가 주관해 ‘우리마을 자유롭게 걸어요’라는 행사가 진행됐다.
이날 백양초등학교와 백양중학교 앞 도로에서 환경체험활동, 버스킹, 물총축제 등 주민이 참여할 수 있는 다양한 이벤트가 진행됐다.

고양시의 전체 탄소배출량의 36%는 자동차 등 수송부문이 차지한다.
시는 차 없는 거리 조성 사업을 지속적으로 추진해 배출 탄소를 저감하고 저탄소 녹색생활을 홍보할 예정이다.
시 관계자는 “시민과 함께 전 지구적 기후위기에 대응하고 보행자 중심의 쾌적한 도시를 구현하기 위해 고양시를 대표할 수 있는 주민친화거리를 추가 개발할 계획이다”고 밝혔다.
한편 고양시는 차 없는 거리 사업 공모를 통해 고양동과 화정2동을 사업 대상지로 선정했으며 고양경찰서와 주민협의체 등 민관이 협력해 이번 사업을 실시했다. 고양=박정호기자
