브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 한덕수 국무총리는 26일 행정안전부 내 경찰국 신설에 대해 "경찰을 더 투명하고 민주적으로 관장하기 위한 것"이라고 밝혔다.
한덕수 총리는 이날 오전 정부서울청사에서 주재한 국무회의에서 "오늘 처리할 안건에는 청와대 민정수석비서관실이 관장하던 실질적인 경찰청에 대한 통솔을, 내각인 행안부 장관이 좀 더 투명하고 민주적으로 관장할 수 있도록 하는 개정령안이 있다"고 말했다.
그는 "나날이 중요해지는 우리나라의 치안 기관인 경찰청을 행안부 장관이 행정적으로 지원하기 위한 경찰국을 신설하는 내용"이라며 "행안부 장관은 이 조직개편에 따라서 경찰청과의 업무 통솔과 모든 관련되는 행정문제를 조속히 해결되도록 잘 설득하고 소통해달라"고 당부했다.
한 총리가 주재한 이날 국무회의에선 행안부 내 경찰국 신설 내용이 담긴 개정령안이 의결됐다.
한덕수 총리는 한편 코로나19 재확산과 관련해선 "본격적인 휴가철이 시작됨에 따라 감염확산 속도가 더 빨라지지 않을까 우려가 크다"면서도 "이제는 어떻게 대처해야 하는지 잘 알고 있다. 중요한 것은 경제와 일상의 멈춤이 아니라 자율과 실천"이라고 강조했다.
정부는 오는 27일 '자율적인 거리두기 실천방안'을 발표할 예정이다.
