[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도가 국토부에서 올해 실시한 도시재생뉴딜사업 추진실적 등 종합평가에서 전국 1위를 차지해 올해 광역공모 국비 420억 원을 배정받는 쾌거를 이루었다.
‘광역공모’란 국토교통부가 국비 총액만 정하면 시·도에서 지역의 여건을 감안한 특화된 도시재생이 이루어질 수 있도록 자율적으로 사업대상지를 선정하는 공모방식이다.
올해 국토교통부가 시·도에 배정하는 국비 총예산은 3,600억 원으로 경남도는 전국 평균 240억 원보다 180억 원이 많은 420억 원을 확보했다.
전국 최대 규모의 국비를 확보한 경남도는 지난해에 이어 2년 연속 국비확보 실적 전국 1위가 됐다.

이에 경남도는 올해 20여 개의 도시재생 공모사업을 준비하고 있다.
오는 9월 사업지구별 ‘도시재생사업 계획서’를 접수해 11월까지 도시재생 전문가로 구성된 평가위원회들이 서면·현장실사·발표 등의 평가를 시행한다.
지역 자원을 활용한 지역특화 도시재생이 될 수 있는 계획에 초점을 두고 평가할 계획이다.
이후 국토부의 최종 사업 타당성 검증을 거쳐 국무총리 주재 도시재생 특별위원회에서 결정하면 12월 도시재생뉴딜사업 광역공모 대상을 최종 선정하게 된다.
허동식 경남도 도시교통국장은 “일자리 창출 및 지역경제 활성화 등 주민이 체감할 수 있는 도시재생사업이 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
