고양시가 일산서구 덕이동에 위치한 고양시 현충탑의 ‘고양을 빛낸 독립운동가’ 명단을 정비했다.
고양시는 제77주년 광복절을 맞아 현충탑의 ‘고양을 빛낸 독립운동가’ 명단을 정비했다.
새로운 명단은 기존의 41인에 더해 고양시 출신이거나 고양시에서 활동한 독립운동가 총 74인을 새겼으며 국가보훈처와 광복회 고양시지회의 서훈 검토를 받아 확정됐다.
고양시 현충탑은 한국전쟁 참전용사를 비롯해 고양시 출신의 호국영령을 추모하기 위해 고양시 현충공원에 설립한 국가현충시설이다.
현충탑 뒤에는 고양시를 빛낸 독립운동가의 이름을 새겨 숭고한 나라사랑 정신을 기리고 있다.
시 관계자는 “현충공원을 찾는 시민들이 고양시의 독립운동가와 독립운동사에 관심을 가지게 되는 계기가 되길 바란다. 나라를 위해 희생한 국가유공자들의 명예를 선양하기 위해 노력하겠다”고 전했다. 고양=박정호기자
