[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 ‘2022 지역특화 메타버스 플랫폼 개발 지원사업 공모’에 선정되어 진주성 및 유등축제 메타버스 플랫폼 ‘메타버스 진주시(가칭)’를 구축하기 위해 관련 참여기관들과 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약에는 진주시와 운영기관인 (재)경남문화예술진흥원, 콘텐츠 전문기업 2곳 등 모두 4개 기관이 참여해 사업 추진을 위한 필요사항 등에 대해 협약하고 첨단기술 기반 자체 메타버스 플랫폼 개발을 위해 상호 협력하기로 했다.
진주시는 메타버스 플랫폼 ‘메타버스 진주시(가칭)’를 통해 유등축제 장소인 진주성과 촉석루를 비롯한 진주성 내의 다양한 문화재를 메타버스 공간에 3D 형태로 재현하고, 디지털 도슨트, 하모 캐릭터 도우미, 나만의 유등 띄우기 등 독특한 콘텐츠를 탑재하여 사용자가 흥미롭게 메타버스를 경험할 수 있도록 할 계획이다.
시 관계자는 “우리 시는 아름다운 경관과 풍부한 문화관광자원을 지닌 도시다. 메타버스 플랫폼을 통해 디지털 환경에서도 진주시의 우수성을 홍보하고 유등축제를 온·오프라인 모두에서 즐길 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
진주시 메타버스 플랫폼은 내년 2월까지 개발할 예정이며, 축제기간뿐만 아니라 연중 활용될 예정이다.
