고양시가 세계사이클연맹이 공인하는 국제 자전거 대회 「TOUR DE DMZ 2022」의 개최지로 선정됐다.
시는 국제자전거대회를 기념해 자전거문화제 등 다양한 시민 행사를 진행할 예정이다.
행안부, 인천, 경기, 강원에서 공동으로 주최하고 대한자전거연맹이 주관하는 TOUR DE DMZ 2022 국제자전거대회는 국내외 선수들이 비무장지대를 따라 자전거를 타고 한반도를 횡단하면서 분단의 아픔을 나누고 평화를 염원하자는 취지로 개최되는 대회다.

이번 대회에는 국내외선수 250여명, 마스터즈 부문 250여명, 총 500여명의 선수들이 8월 26일부터 30일까지 5일간의 여정에 참가할 예정이다.
고양시는 TOUR DE DMZ 개최를 기념해 이벤트 ‘고양특례시 자전거문화제: 탄소중립의 실천’을 개막식 다음날인 8월 27일에 개최한다.
자전거 문화 확대와 탄소중립 실천 등을 주제로 하는 본 행사는 이동환 고양시장과 함께 하는 자전거 퍼레이드, 동호인 공연, 토크콘서트뿐만 아니라 지난 달 개최되었던 도심형 자전거 대회인 킹오브트랙의 미니 대회와 안전.환경.교육.체험부스를 운영하여 시민에게 다채로운 행사 프로그램을 제공할 예정이다.
