파주시는 출·퇴근 시간에 상습 정체가 빚어지는 심학산교차로 일대에 교통 흐름 개선 공사를 지난 21일 완료했다고 밝혔다.
심학산교차로는 첨두시간(출퇴근시간)에 남북로 상의 좌회전 및 우회전 차량으로 인한 상습정체 발생으로 대기행렬이 길어 교통의 흐름이 원활하지 못한 곳이다.

이에 시는 차량 흐름을 개선하기 위해 8억원의 예산을 투입해 지난 5월부터 심학산교차로 앞 상습정체 개선사업을 실시했다.
이 사업은 심학산로 상의 한울마을 1단지와 산내마을 10단지 앞 가·감속차로(L=400m, B=3.5m)를 철거하고, 전용 우회전차로 설치로 도로용량을 늘려 정체를 개선하는 사업이다.
강태규 도로관리과장은 “앞으로도 교차로 상습정체 구간을 적극 개선해 교통 혼잡으로 인한 사회적 비용손실을 경감하고 쾌적한 교통 환경을 조성하겠다”고 말했다. [파주=박정호기자]
