파주시 새마을회는 30일 문산읍 내포리 체육공원에서 ‘2022년 숨은 자원 모으기 경진대회’를 개최했다.
코로나19로 3년 만에 개최된 이번 행사는 김경일 파주시장, 새마을 지도자, 내빈 등 500여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

행사에서는 각 읍면동에서 헌 옷, 가방 등 재활용이 가능한 자원을 수집해 재사용(Reuse), 재활용(Recycle), 발생 줄이기(Reduce)의 3R 활동을 실천했다.
또한 새마을운동 활성화를 위해 30년이 넘게 힘쓰신 공적으로 기상선 파주시새마을회 이사에게 ‘새마을 30년 기념장’을 수여하고, 새마을회 한마음 다짐 체육대회도 열어 새마을 회원들이 화합을 다지는 시간을 가졌다.
신경재 새마을지도자파주시협의회장은 “읍면동 곳곳의 고철, 폐비닐 등의 숨은 자원을 수집해주신 모든 남녀 새마을지도자분들께 감사드린다”고 말했다.

김경일 파주시장은 “이번 경진대회는 자원재활용과 환경보호에 대한 중요성을 되새기는 시간이었다”며, “자원재활용 문화를 확산하고 어려운 이웃과 따뜻한 정을 나누기 위해 노력하는 새마을 지도자분들에게 감사드린다”고 전했다.
