세종문화예술진흥협회측은 보도자료에서 “케이 컬쳐가 주목받는 시기에 K-art는 한국 현대미술의 발전과 각종 아트페어 및 아트쇼 흥행에 성공하면서 미술시장이 3배로 확장되고 , 한국미술의 큰 위상에 힘입어 글로벌 시장으로의 활동 영역을 넓히려는 움직임이 생겨났다. 이제는 글로벌 미술시장이 예능과 예술이 결합된 새로운 형태의 아트페어로 새 장을 열면서 예술문화의 정체성 커다란 변화를 보이는 가운데 세종문화예술진흥협회가 주최하는 오는 2022년 11월 3일(목) ~ 11월 6일(일)까지 싱가포르 마리나베이 샌즈 엑스포 컨벤션센터에서 '2022 글로벌 아트페어 싱가포르'(대회장 정종섭)를 개최 된다. 9월 4일(일) 12:00 서울 강남구 소재의 힐튼가든인서울 오크룸에서 '글로벌 아트페어 싱가포르 조직위원회 출범식'을 가졌다.”고 전하고 “올해로 2번째로 개최되는GAF(GLOBAL ART FAIR SINGAPORE)조직위원회는 전 안전행정부 장관을 지낸 정종섭(현 한국국학진흥원 원장)을 대회장, 차대영(수원대 교수)을 회장으로 위촉했으며, 홍보대사로는 구혜선 배우를, 총감독으로 김종근씨를 위촉하여 실질적인 전시 성과를 내기 위한 업무활동을 시작했다”고 알렸다.

이어 “한국미술의 세계화와 글로벌 미술시장의 점진적 기능 확대로 대안이 모색되어야 한다는 미술계의 의견이 반영되면서 열리는 아트페어라는 점에서 현대미술의 직접적인 글로벌 시장 경험을 제공하고, 구체적인 예술적 활로 개척의 장을 마련하고자 한다. 한국을 비롯해 미국, 프랑스, 스위스, 일본, 싱가포르, 인도 등 10여 개국에서 95여개 갤러리가 참여하며 전시 작품은 회화, 조각, 판화, 사진, 미디어, 설치미술 분야에서 다양한 예술세계를 선보인다. 세계 유명 아트페어에서 한국 갤러리 참여로 우리 현대미술의 창의적 가치를 소개해 왔지만 부족한 면이 있어 이번 '2022 글로벌 아트페어 싱가포르'에서는 한국미술의 진흥과 발전을 위해 전체 60%까지 한국 현대미술로 채워 홍보에 나설 계획”이라면서 “'2022 글로벌 아트페어 싱가포르' 정종섭 대회장은 '빠른 속도로 변화해 가는 글로벌 미술시장 상황에 맞게 전시 형태를 갖추고 컬렉터들의 시각을 충족하는 콘텐츠 확보와 작가 발굴에 총력을 기울이고 있다.
