울진군에 따르면 국토교통부에서 미래 신성장동력산업인 항공레저 육성을 위해 주최하는 항공 레저 FESTA는 전국 지방자치단체 공모사업으로 매년 개최지가 선정되며, 울진은 2020년 당시 개최지로 선정되었으나 코로나19 장기화로 2년 연기되어 올해개최하게 됐다.
이번 행사는 에어쇼, 공군 군악대·의장대 축하공연을 시작으로 경량항공기?스카이다이빙?패러글라이딩 등 국토교통부 장관배 6개 종목과 울진군수배 종이비행기대회? 드론챌린지 등 2개 종목이 열릴 예정이다.
또한, 국립항공박물관의 안창남 고국 비행 100주년 기념 드론군집비행 및 동력패러글라이딩 편대비행 등 다양한 볼거리가 준비되어 있고, 항공VR 영상체험 및 드론 조종 체험, 전동비행기 제작 등 15개 체험프로그램 및 항공레저 및 항공산업 관련 전시?홍보프로그램도 함께 운영된다.
