브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당은 20일 윤석열 대통령이 고(故) 엘리자베스 2세 여왕 조문을 하지 못한 것을 두고 공세를 이어갔다.
김성환 더불어민주당 정책위의장은 20일 국회에서 열린 원내대책회의에서 "미국, 캐나다, 일본, 중국을 비롯해 브라질, 우크라이나 조문 사절단도 모두 교통 통제 조건에서 조문했는데 왜 윤 대통령만 못했는지 (국민들은) 궁금해한다"면서 "교통 통제를 몰랐다면 무능이고, 알았는데도 대책을 못 세웠다면 더 큰 외교 실패이자 참사"라고 비판했다.
김성환 의장은 "이 일대는 교통통제가 사전 예고돼 있었다. 이에 프랑스 마크롱 대통령도 운동화를 신고 조문했다"며 "윤석열 정부가 (엘리자베스 여왕) 서거 당일부터 여왕 이름 오타를 내고 조문을 빼먹는 모습을 보면서 국민들은 윤 대통령이 왜 영국에 갔는지 의문을 갖게 된다"고 꼬집었다.
그는 문재인 전 대통령이 지난해 6월 G7 회의에 참석한 사진을 꺼내들며 ""G7 정상들과 어깨를 나란히 했던 장면이다. 이 장면에서 국민들은 상당한 자부심을 느낀 바 있다. 그런데 1년만인 지난 8월 영국의 이코노미스트는 '한국의 대통령은 기본이 안 돼 있다'는 기사를 내 국민의 자존심을 상하게 했다"고 말했다.
그는 아울러 "앞으로가 더 걱정이다. 특히 한미 정상회담에서 한국 전기차 차별 문제를 해결해야 하지만 여전히 빈손 회담을 하지 않을까 걱정이고, 한일 정상회담은 회담 성사 자체가 오리무중"이라며 "국민은 이제라도 한국 대통령이 국익 관점에서 당당한 외교를 해서 한국이 '글로벌 호구'가 아님을 증명해달라"고 강조했다.
