현대차는 나무심기 전문 소셜벤처 ‘트리플래닛’과 협력해 올 4분기 강원도 홍천군 내면 방내리에 1만6000㎡ 규모 친환경 숲을 새로 조성하고, 전라북도 군산시 옥도면 국립신시도자연휴양림에는 이달 말까지 300㎡ 규모의 자생정원을 추가한다고 21일 밝혔다.
이 중 국립신시도자연휴양림에는 지난해 2만㎡ 규모 아이오닉 포레스트를 조성한 바 있다.
강원도 홍천군에 새롭게 생겨나는 아이오닉 포레스트는 3000그루의 구상나무 숲, 각 2500그루의 아까시나무 숲과 물푸레나무 숲 등으로 구성된다.
멸종위기종인 구상나무와 꿀벌의 먹잇감인 아까시나무는 생물다양성 보전과 꿀벌의 멸종을 막는 데 기여하고, 산불 피해에 강한 물푸레나무는 기후변화로 연중·대형화되는 산불 예방에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
