[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 소재 산업의 최신 동향을 교류하고 기업의 기술 경쟁력을 제고하기 위한 'KIMS TECHFAIR 2022'가 21일 개막식을 갖고 22일까지 창원컨벤션센터에서 열린다.
경상남도와 창원시가 주최하고 한국재료연구원(KIMS)이 주관 및 과기정통부와 국가과학기술연구회가 후원하는 이번 행사는 지난 과기정통부 ‘극한소재 실증연구 기반조성 사업’의 정부 예비타당성 조사 통과의 의미를 조명하고, 우주항공·수소·가스터빈 발전 등 극한소재의 실증연구에 대한 기업의 관심 유도와 선도적 극한소재 확보의 초석을 다짐하는 것을 목표로 마련됐다.
코로나19로 2018년 이후 4년 만에 개최되는 ‘KIMS TECHFAIR’는 국가전략 소재 연구개발과 국가 소재산업 발전을 위해 250여명의 연구 인력을 보유한 한국재료연구원의 소재 기술 보급 전시회이다.
이번 행사는 재료연이 보유한 세계1등 기술 6개를 비롯 소재기술관과 우수 협력기업의 소재기반 기술을 소개하는 소재기업관으로 나뉘어 39개사 131개부스 규모로 운영된다.
구체적으로는 △극한소재 분야 12개, △수송기기 분야 20개, △에너지/발전/전지/플랜트 분야 11개, △디스플레이/전자/반도체 분야 7개, △우주/항공 분야 9개, △의료 분야 5개, △국방 분야 3개, △건축/환경 분야 8개, △금형/공구 분야 2개, △산업지원 분야 9개이다.
또한 기업 지원상담을 제공하는 비즈니스관을 운영해, 애로기술 해결을 지원하고 기술멘토링을 진행하는 등 기업의 소재 기술 경쟁력 제고 및 기술 자립화를 위한 기반 마련을 지원한다.
21일 개막식에서는 안경원 창원시 제1부시장, 류명현 경상남도 산업통상국장, 김이근 창원시 의회 의장, 이상연 경남경영자총협회 회장, 경상국립대학교 권순기 총장 등 민·관·학·연 등 500여명이 참석했다.
이날 한국재료연구원은 극한소재 기술선도 비전 선포식을 진행해 극한소재 기술주권 확보와 기술선도에 대한 포부를 밝히고 4개 기업체 대표와의 기술이전 협약식을 끝으로 개막식을 마무리 했다.

개막식에 이은 첫째 날 ‘소재기술 혁신 심포지엄’이 진행됐다.
한국항공우주연구원 최환석 부원장과 두산에너빌리티 송용진 부사장, 성균관대학교 김범준 교수가 참석했다.
둘째 날에는 다양한 주제의 ‘기술교류회’가 개최된다. △탄소복합재료 기술교류회, △제11회 2022년 한국소성가공학회 압출 및 인발 심포지엄, △현대차 기초소재연구센터 기술교류회, △미래 분말소재 기술교류회, △마그네슘 기술교류회가 진행될 예정이다.
재료연 이정환 원장은 “해시계가 음지에만 있으면 아무런 소용이 없다.”라며, “우수한 연구성과가 실용화와 산업화로 이어져 지역의 우수한 기업이 이를 적극 활용할 수 있어야 하는 만큼, 이번 행사가 이에 보탬이 될 수 있기를 바란다.”라고 말했다.
한국재료연구원과 함께 지속적인 협력 체계를 구축하고 있는 패밀리 기업 '성일터빈', '부곡스텐레스' 등 38개사가 참여하는 KIMS협력 우수기업기술관도 운영한다.
