[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 박완수 경상남도지사는 26일 도정회의실에서 지역인재를 육성하고 지역발전의 생태계를 체계적으로 조성하기 위해 도내 대학 총장들과 간담회를 주재했다.
학령인구의 감소와 수도권의 대학 집중현상으로 갈수록 지역대학의 위기가 심화되어 국가 경쟁력 약화로 이어질 것으로 예상됨에 따라 경남도와 대학의 연계·협력을 통해 지역인재를 양성하고 지역의 위기를 극복하며 새로운 활로를 모색하고자 마련됐다.
이날 간담회에는 박완수 도지사를 비롯해 도내에 소재하고 있는 17개 대학의 총장들이 참석했다.
간담회에서는 ▲수도권 집중에 따른 지역대학의 위기극복 방안 ▲지역인재 투자협약 시범사업 추진 ▲경상남도 인재 육성 임시조직(T/F) 구성 ▲지역인재혁신플랫폼 사업의 원활한 추진 등에 대해 대학 총장들과 다양한 방안을 논의하며 도와 지역대학 간의 협업을 다시 한번 강조했다.

특히 도내의 우수한 인재를 유치하고 지역인재가 경남에 머무를 수 있는 토대를 구축하기 위해 ▲로스쿨 설치 ▲의료분야 대학 설치 ▲과학기술기관 설치 ▲대학·고교인재 육성 등 4개 분과의 지역인재 육성 임시조직을 구성하기로 했다.
박완수 도지사는 “학교의 인재를 양성하는 궁극적인 목적은 국가나 사회를 위한 좋은 인재를 만들고자 지지하는 것”이라며 “지역 경쟁력은 각 지역대학과 긴밀히 연관되므로 지역대학과 함께 힘을 모아 경남 미래의 산업 육성과 지역 활성화 등 경남 발전에 도움이 되는 자리가 되기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
