[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 세계 16개국 대표 연사들이 참여한 제26회 세계한국어웅변대회가 1일 마산문화원에서 열렸다.
제26회 세계 한국어 웅변대회는 창원특례시와 (사)한국스피치웅변협회가 공동주최하고, 문화체육관광부, 교육부 등의 후원으로 개최됐다.
한국을 비롯해 전세계 16개 나라에서 지역별 예선을 거쳐 선발된 대표 연사들이 참가했다.
한류 문화와 더불어 지구촌에 확산되고 있는 한국어에 대한 뜨거운 열기를 느낄 수 있었다.
이번 본선 대회에는 호주, 일본, 중국, 몽골, 태국, 베트남, 캄보디아, 말레이시아, 싱가포르, 필리핀, 인도네시아, 이란, 미얀마, 프랑스, 동티모르 등에서 외국인 개인부 15명, 단체부 11명, 그리고 한국대표 24명 등의 연사가 참가했다.
대면, 비대면 2가지 방식으로 병행 개최됐던 지난 25회 대회와는 달리 방역수칙을 준수해 전체 대면 형식으로 진행됐으며, 참가한 연사들은 코로나19 퇴치, 한반도 평화통일, 한국어의 가치와 한국 문화 등을 주제로 그동안 갈고 닦은 웅변 기량을 뽐냈다.
이날 대회에서 창원시장상 수상의 영예는 장우권(광주광역시 북구), 제러딘(싱가폴), 티람(미얀마) 등 12명에게 돌아갔다.
홍남표 시장은 “세계 대표 연사들이 참가하는 웅변대회가 창원특례시에서 열리게 되어 매우 영광이다.”며, “앞으로도 올바른 한글 사용은 물론, 시와 자매결연 등을 맺은 해외 도시에 한국어를 널리 알리기 위해 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
