창원특례시 '창원 북부리 팽나무' 국가지정문화재 천연기념물 지정과 관련해 12일 오후 2시 창원 북부리 팽나무 인근에서 문화재청과 함께 기념행사를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
북부리 팽나무는 수령이 500년 이상 된 것으로 추정되는 보호수이며, 그 학술적·역사적 가치뿐만 아니라 주변 경치와 어우러지는 독특한 경관적 가치를 인정받아 지난 10월 7일 국가지정문화재로 지정됐다.
이번 기념행사는 창원시 교향악단의 식전공연을 시작으로 자연유산강연, 관리단체 지정서 교부, 팽나무 영상 상영, 기념사와 축사 순으로 진행된다.
