브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 김재원 전 국민의힘 의원은 18일 차기 당대표 적합도 조사에서 1위를 기록하고 있는 유승민 전 의원을 향해 작심하고 비판을 쏟아냈다.
김재원 전 의원은 이날 KBS라디오 '최경영의 최강시사'에서 "지금 유승민 전 의원의 모습은 늙은 이준석 대표고, 늙은 이준석이 다시 당대표가 되면 과연 윤석열 대통령에게 도움을 주겠냐"라고 밝혔다.
그는 차기 당대표 경선과 관련 "이준석 대표를 뽑았던 전당대회에서도 역선택 방지 문항을 넣었고 그것이 이어지는 것이 당연히 맞다"며 "역선택 방지 문항을 넣으면 현재 여론조사와 전혀 다른 결과가 나올 것"이라고 주장했다.
이어 "현재의 국민의힘 경선 룰에 따르면 사실과는 조금 다른 결과가 나올 수 있다. 당원들을 반영하면 조금 더 차이가 있을 수 가 있다"면서 "그렇게 된디면 유승민 전 의원이 과연 1위를 하겠냐"고 지적했다.
김재원 전 의원은 또 "통상 지지도가 높다고 하면 전 국민으로부터 대체로 지지를 받거나 하는데 유승민 전 의원은 유독 국민의힘 지지자들에게는 크게 지지를 못 받고 민주당 지지자들이 압도적으로 지지하는 특성을 갖고 있다"고 꼬집었다.
그는 "국민의힘 당대표를 뽑는데 민주당 지지자가 특정인을 지지한다면 그 분이 과연 국민의힘을 잘 이끌 수 있어서 지지할 것인지 아니면 민주당에게 유리한 국면이 될 거라고 생각해서 그 분을 지지할 것인지 생각해봐야 한다"고 우려를 나타냈다.
그러면서 "유승민 전 의원이 윤석열 정부가 하고 싶은 것을 도와줄 것 인가를 생각해보면 특별히 도와준 기억이 없다. 스스로 해오신 여러가지 정치적 궤적을 이제 국민들 앞에 보여주고 있는데 국민들도 나름대로 판단이 있을 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
