브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 검찰은 21일 이재명 더불어민주당 대표의 최측근으로 분류되는 김용 민주연구원 부원장에 대해 구속영장을 청구했다.
이날 법조계에 따르면 서울중앙지검 반부패수사3부(부장검사 강백신)는 정치자금법 위반 혐의로 체포한 김용 부원장에 대한 구속영장을 청구했다.
김용 부원장은 유동규 전 성남도시개발공사 기획본부장과 등으로부터 지난해 4월부터 8월까지 대선자금 명목으로 8억원을 수수한 혐의를 받고 있다.
검찰은 수사 등을 토대로 김 부원장의 범죄 혐의를 밝혀내기에 충분한 증거물을 확보해 구속영장을 청구했다는 입장이다.
지난 19일 김 부원장을 체포한 것 역시 이미 범죄 혐의가 충분히 소명됐다고 판단해 체포영장을 청구해 발부받은 것이라고 전해졌다.
특히 검찰은 김 부원장이 대선자금 명목으로 불법 정치자금을 수수했다고 보고 있는 만큼, 사정정국의 칼날은 이재명 대표를 향하고 있는 상황이다.
이와 관련 이재명 대표는 이날 오전 11시 국회에서 특별 기자회견을 열고, 검찰 수사와 관련한 입장을 밝힐 예정이다.
이 대표는 전날에도 "대선 자금 운운하는데 불법 자금은 1원도 쓴 일이 없다"며 "김용 부원장은 오랫동안 믿고 함께했던 사람인데 저는 여전히 그의 결백함을 믿는다"고 말했다.
한편 김용 부원장은 유동규 전 기획본부장과 정민용 변호사(전 성남도개공 전략사업실장) 등과 공모해 지난해 4~8월 대장동 개발 민간업자인 남욱 변호사로부터 4회에 걸쳐 8억4700만원을 수수한 혐의를 받고 있다.
남욱 변호사의 지시를 받은 이 모씨가 서울 서초구에 있는 엔에스제이홀딩스(천화동인 4호) 사물실 등에서 정민용 변호사에게 수회에 걸쳐 현금 8억여원을 전달했고, 정 변호사를 이 돈을 성남 분당구에 있는 원홀딩스 사무실에서 유동규 전 본부장에게 건넸다.
유 전 본부장은 최종적으로 이 돈을 김용 부원장에게 전달했다고 검찰은 보고 있다.
