브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 주호영 국민의힘 원내대표는 21일 이재명 더불어민주당 대표가 대장동 특혜 개발 의혹에 대한 특검을 제안한데 대해 "의도적인 시간 끌기, 물타기 수사 지연에 다름이 아니다"라고 거부 의사를 명확히 했다.
주호영 원내대표는 이날 국회에서 기자감담회를 열고 "(이 대표가)오늘 기자회견에서 또다시 윤석열 대통령을 물고 늘어진 것은 자신의 최대 치적이라고 했던 대장동 사건의 핵심은 빼놓고 물타기, 물귀신 작전, 논점 흐리기에 다름이 아닌 것 같다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그는 "단군 이래 최대 부패사건이라는 대장동 사건은 지난해 민주당 대선 경선 과정에서 제기되고 공개가 돼 시작된 사건"이라며 "지난해 9월부터 본격화된 이후 당시 권력을 잡고 있던 문재인 정권의 친정권 검사들은 의도적으로 수사를 뭉개고 꼬리 자르고 변죽만 울려오지 않았느냐. 당시 야당이었던 국민의힘은 지난해 40여 차례에 걸쳐 대장동 특검을 제안했다"고 설명했다.
이어 그는 "특검 통과를 위해 여야 협상, 원내대표 공개 토론까지 요구했지만 협상테이블에 오지 않았다. 특검 임명도 자신들이 하고 법안도 자신들이 내놓은 것을 중심으로 하겠다는 속이 뻔한 주장만 되풀이했다"고 말했다.
주 원내대표는 "민주당이 다수 의석으로 밀어붙여 법안들을 통과시킨 것을 볼 때, 의지가 있었다면 특검 통과는 백 번이라도 더 되고 남았을 것"이라며 "그런데 이런 저런 이유로 피하다가 정권이 바뀌어서 수사가 제대로 시작하기 시작하니깐 특검 주장을 하고 있는 것"이라고 꼬집었다.
그는 "(민주당도) 특검을 할수록 정쟁이 심화된다는 것은 이미 경험적으로 알고 있다. 이재명 대표는 특검으로 가고 민생에 집중하자 하지만, 정쟁을 없애고 민생에 집중하는 가장 좋은 방법은 검찰이 신속하고 엄정하게 제대로 수사해 국민에게 보고하는 길 밖에 없다"고 주장했다.
주 원내대표는 또한 "특검은 준비하는 데에만 몇 달이 걸리는데 그 사이 온갖 증거인멸이 있을 수 있고 여러가지 수사를 방해하는 사람이 있을 수 있기 때문에 특검을 수용할 수 없다"며 "검찰이 과잉수사라든지 잘못된 수사를 하면 법원 영장제도를 통해 견제하고 감독하면 될 일"이라고 했다.
이재명 대표를 향해서도 "자신의 사법 리스크를 피하기 위해서 민주당을 동원하고 국회를 정쟁의 도가니로 몰아넣는 건 해서는 안될 일"이라며 "아마 이런 리스크를 본인이 스스로 예상했기에 지역구를 굳이 옮겨 불체포 특권이 보장되는 국회의원을 하려 했고, 당대표가 되어서 당을 방탄으로 세우려고 했던 것이 아닌가 하는 확신만 국민들에게 더 심어줄 뿐"이라고 비판했다.
